StrangeJuice - Arctic Tundra

I would have placed this in my best of 2018 albums except it is not mixed well. It clips and breaks up in louder sections and is just generally unpleasant to listen to. If you persevere the songs are as good as any StrangeJuice recording. It is just poorly recorded.

The Collection (Live) 10/07/2019 Joplin, MO

This is a hard review to write. I lost my best friend to cancer in June this year. We shared a HUGE love of music and going to live shows which had become pretty much impossible for him to enjoy this past year. It was hard losing this particular part of our habits but it tolled the approaching finality and made the last months difficult. It is so sad to watch someone lose the ability to do the things they love or even to find solace in things that used to give them joy. It was also very hard for me to lose these shared activities and interests not to mention the overwhelming loss of losing my friend in the end. The Collection was a band that we discovered on bandcamp and had been looking for an opportunity to see them live but always seemed to miss the chance. We loved the harmonies, the lyrical content and the joy the band pours into everything they do. Even the sad songs were more moving because of the hope that somehow always seemed hidden within the chorus. Ars Morie

Bitter Fruit - "It Gets Worse"

I don't like every punk band I hear and I can't exactly describe why I like one and not another. Bitter Fruit fills a void for me I haven't had an entry in for a long, long time. The sound is grungy and dark, harboring anger with a sense of humor. The artwork of member Jack Bradley immediately drew me in. The use of brilliant colors on images of violence, horror and grossness is intriguing and attention getting. The band's sound echos these images in capturing both the angst and the luminescence of life.
